How to give life to a brand
When designing the 2022 Impact Report for JobTrain, a nonprofit organization based in Menlo Park, California, my main objective was to integrate JobTrain’s newly refreshed logo, color, and language into a comprehensive annual report that highlights the incredible work the organization has achieved in the past year. And for the first time, the printed, 12-page report will be accompanied by a modern, and fully responsive webpage.
Objective 1: Design 12-page, magazine sized report with beautiful visuals and engaging flow of information. Printed and distributed to over 22,000 people. See the finished product.
Objective 2: Develope a modern and fully responsive webpage for the report, and integrate multiple media such as videos, images and animation. See the finished product.
Breathing Life into a Brand
As JobTrain concluded their brand refresh, the Impact Report became the first major publication featuring the new branding, which was printed and distributed to over 22,000 people. My task involved not only designing visually appealing elements for the report but also introducing the revitalized brand.
Started with the official Brand Guidebook, I gave life to the JobTrain's brand using graphic design principles such as color theory, visual hierarchy, imageries, and more.
Tools Utilized
- Adobe Illustrator: Used for crafting all pages and custom assets in the Impact Report.
- Adobe Photoshop: Employed for editing photos and blending images.
- Adobe Premiere Pro: Utilized for video editing.
- Adobe After Effects: Added motion and animation to videos.
- Wordpress: The platform used to build the Impact Report webpage.
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript: Implemented custom code for enhanced visuals, animations, and responsiveness
Video Production
I produced and edited videos featured on the webpage, handling everything from shooting to post-production. The first video of Cristian has been fully produced by me from shooting to editing. And the video of Ivan was edited in post production from a clip that client as sent over.
Client Feedback
As I scrolled through the online version, I was struck by a couple things. Visually, it is stunning: The use of color with such a clean white background; the movement in just the right places in the form of video, gently rising statistics was super engaging. Importantly, the use of our new branding language really shone. The level of clarity of purpose and process was so strong.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an impact report that is as good. It struck me that the impact your amazing work is having on this organization is so profound. And this impact report, which represents your work around visually appealing collateral and language that inspires the reader, all comes together.
